FFP EP 153! THE BOOK OF JAMES: THE SIN OF PARTIALITY
Featuring: Joshua Cummins, Dana Christensen

FAITH: James 2. The sin of partiality.
The Test (1–4): James warns against treating people differently based on wealth or social status. He uses the example of a wealthy man in fine clothes receiving the best seat, while a poor man in ragged clothes is told to sit on the floor.
God's Perspective (5–7): God has chosen the poor to be rich in faith. Showing favoritism dishonors the poor and favors the rich, who are often the very ones oppressing believers in the first place.
The Royal Law (8–13): James reminds readers of the "royal law" from Leviticus: "Love your neighbor as yourself." Breaking this law—or any part of the law—makes a person a lawbreaker. He urges believers to show mercy, as judgment is without mercy for those who have shown none.
Family: Why do you think people are naturally tempted to show favoritism? What does favoritism reveal about a person's heart and values? Are there certain types of people you find it easier to respect or welcome than others? In what situations do you struggle most to show mercy?
Politics: Conservative Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett Reportedly ‘Swatted’
