Faith: James 5:13–20 is the closing passage of the New Testament Letter of James, teaching that believers should turn to God in every circumstance of life. It emphasizes that prayer in times of suffering, sickness, and sin is powerful and effective, and calls the faith community to restore those who wander from the truth.
Family:
Response to Life Seasons: If you are suffering, you should pray. If you are happy or cheerful, you should sing praises.
Sickness and Healing: If you are sick, call the church elders to pray over you and anoint you with oil in the Lord's name. The "prayer of faith" will help and heal the sick person, and any sins committed will be forgiven
Believers are encouraged to confess their sins to each other and pray for one another to experience spiritual and physical healing.
The text uses the Old Testament prophet Elijah as an example, showing that earnest prayer by a righteous person has great power and real results.
Restoring the Wandering: Anyone who helps turn a fellow believer back from wandering away from God’s truth saves that person's soul from spiritual death and covers many sins.
