General Deception: Jesus warned in the Olivet Discourse (Matthew 24:11, 24) that the end times would see many false prophets performing great signs and wonders to deceive people—and attempting to trick even the faithful.
The Ultimate "False Prophet": In the Book of Revelation (specifically Revelation 13:11–15), the term also points to a specific individual: a final, preeminent religious leader. Working alongside the political/military leader known as the Antichrist, this final false prophet acts as the "third person of the unholy trinity" (Satan, the Antichrist, and the False Prophet).
Mimicking Divine Power: The end-time false prophet mimics the Holy Spirit by pointing people away from God and toward the Antichrist. He uses persuasive speech, economic control (enforcing the mark of the beast), and false miracles—such as calling fire down from heaven—to deceive the global population into worshiping the beast.
Rather than just wild claims, these figures capitalize on a growing turning-away from sound biblical doctrine (apostasy),-favoring popular messages, pluralism, or cultural myths that tickle people's ears rather than speaking truth.
